Making Newsletter Campaigns Work
Newsletter campaigns are a great way to market your business or property as they offer direct marketing to potential clients.
You are able to market new specials or products on offer as well as update your potential clients on your company’s news.
Increasing your Newsletter Opening Rate
No matter how big your database is, an average of 20% of your contacts will read your newsletter.
However there are various ways to increase your opening rate:
-
Keep your newsletters short and to the point
-
Do not include mundane information
-
Vary the content of the newsletter – in one feature specials, in another feature recipe’s, in another feature upcoming products/services/events, etc.
-
Do not send newsletters out to often. Once a week is plenty, once a month is perfect.
-
Include social sharing buttons. This allows people to share your newsletter on their social network, which broadens your network reach
-
Choose your distribution days carefully.
-
Monday nobody is interested in work, and have a backlog of emails to sift through. There is a good chance your newsletter will be deleted
-
Fridays, again nobody is interested in work. Send your last-minute deals through in the morning.
-
Tuesday through to Thursday show higher opening rates of newsletters
The Law States:
The law states that you cannot distribute direct marketing to any person who has not given you written consent to do so.
Any requests for direct marketing cannot be automatically selected on yes.
The law also states that every newsletter must have an unsubscribe link, and if somebody chooses to unsubscribe there details must be removed from your database
Generating a Database
There are various ways to generate a legal database:
- Ask your existing clients if you can send them direct marketing
- Include a request on your booking form
- Include a request on your website
- Add a forward to friends link on your newsletter as well as a link to subscribe to newsletters
Who Should Receive Your Newsletter
We all want as many direct clients as possible, but remember that Agents broaden our target marketing network. Ensure that if you send your newsletter to the Tourism Industry, it’s to your targeted audience. |
